Mediaeval jewel set in a crown of greenery, ideally situated to the east of Antibes, Biot has preserved its quality of life and identity, heritage of its history and creative craftsmanship. The arrival of artists such as Fernand Léger, whose museum stands at the foot of the village, and Eloi Monod, who originated the Biot tradition of blown glass, generated a wave of creative energy, whose results can be seen in the workshops and galleries of glasswork, pottery, ceramics and jewellery. Biot crafts are vibrant and varied.

The narrow streets bear witness to the village’s rich historical past, Biot having been a stronghold first of the Templars, and then of the Knights of Malta. Rebuilt in 1470, and preserved ever since, Biot’s architecture offers distinctive vaults, fortified gates and engraved stones…

Ever since the creation of the Biot glassworks by Eloi Monod, many glass artists, trained in Biot, have set up their workshops in the village. You can pause to admire their creative ballet in front of their furnaces, and witness the creation of a unique piece of work. You will understand why Biot has become one of the glass capitals of Europe.
