The Dutch Golden Age: From Rembrandt to Vermeer

From  10/7/2009  To  2/7/2010

From 7 October 2009 to 7 February 2010, the Paris Pinacothèque presents the exhibition The Dutch Golden Age: From Rembrandt to Vermeer.

For its third season, the Paris Pinacothèque teams up with the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum to present one of the most interesting periods in the history of art: the 17th century in Holland.

This period produced some of the most famous artists of all time, and one in particular has remained an absolute reference for any artist for nearly four centuries: Rembrandt.
The exhibition will present an exceptional collection of nearly one hundred works, including some sixty canvases, thirty graphic works (drawings and watercolours) and a dozen engravings, as well as a dozen objects that give a representative illustration of the period (tapestries, pottery, wooden miniatures, silverware and glassware).

The exhibition seeks above all to put the spotlight on the unique role played by Rembrandt, the most influential artist of the period. A master of chiaroscuro, Rembrandt brings an unparalleled human dimension and beauty to his models, simple portraits and religious scenes, making him the precursor of modernity, three centuries ahead of his contemporaries.
