- Mois du Film Documentaire [Documentary Film Month] 1 to 30 November 2009
Over one month, in hundreds of venues throughout France and overseas (cinemas, cultural centres, media libraries, etc.), documentary films offer the public the chance to discover the richness of creations in which directors have put their all, sharing their viewpoints on the contemporary world. Rare film screenings and previews, tributes to great directors, discovery of young talent, encounters and debates... All this is laid on and coordinated by the organization Images en Bibliothèque. - Semi-Marathon International de Fort de France [Fort de France International Half-Marathon] 29 November 2009
This event, which brings together over 2 000 runners from all over the world, is both a sporting and a festive occasion. Not to be missed is the dawn warm-up to the sound of drums. The race gets under way on the sea front at 6.30 am. Demonstrations of keep-fit, rollerblading and traditional and hip-hop dance entertain competitors and visitors during and after the marathon. The goal of the event is to develop environmentally responsible attitudes among marathon-runners and the public. A Chanté Nwel (Christmas carols sung in Creole) and a round skiff race round off marathon Sunday.

- Fête Patronale [Patron Saint’s Festival] in Grand-Rivière 29 November to 6 December 2009
On the last Sunday of November and the first Sunday of December, organisations parade with marching bands and majorettes. The town also puts on a programme of concerts by folk groups, activities and games over two consecutive weekends.
- Grande Semaine de l’Artisanat et du Commerce [Craft and Commerce Week] in Sainte Anne 24 to 31 December 2009
This week of festivities and commerce is organized by Sainte Anne Tourist Office. Among the high points are the Grand Chanté Nwel (Christmas carols sung in Creole), the Journée du Cochon [Hog Day] with traditional butchers, and the Jour des Innocents [Day of the Innocents], dedicated to all the world’s children, as well as demonstrations of traditional dance by various folk groups.
