The French Ministry of Culture and Communications has launched a new free-admission program for the national museums in order to make culture more accessible. Through June 30, 2008, the following 14 National Museums will offer free-admission to their permanent collections: Paris and Ile-de-France- Musee Guimet- Musee de Cluny- Musee des Arts et Métiers- Musee des Antiquites Nationals in Saint-Germain-en-Laye (website in French only)- Musee National de la Renaissance in Ecouen (website in French only)- Musee de l’Air et de l’Espace in Le Bourget (website in French only)Other regions- Musee de la Marine in Toulon- Musee National Adrien Dubouche in Limoges- Musee Magnin in Dijon (website in French only)- Palais de Tau in Reims- Palais Jacques Coeur in Bourges- Chateau d’Oiron- Musee National du Chateau de Pau (website in French only)- Chateau de PierrefondsIn the meantime 4 of the biggest Parisian museums will offer free-admission to young visitors (age 18 to 25) each on a particular day of the week between 6 and 9 p.m.:- Musee national d’art moderne on Wednesdays- Musee d’Orsay on Thursdays- Louvre on Fridays- Musee du Quai Branly on SaturdaysDepending on its results and success, the program could lead to permanent free-entry to several museums chosen regarding their location, collections or even field of action.Contact: Fabien Durand service-de-presse@culture.fr www.culture.fr
