Every year, there are more than 100 events focused on wine tasting and activities to discover the Rhône Valley vineyards.
If you only remember one of them, come during the spring, when the vines wake up after the winter: it’s time of Rhône Exaltation.
Rhône Exaltation is the only event which offers you different ways to taste Côtes du Rhône wines :
- Your Rhône Exaltation ticket gives you entry to the 14th-century Salle de la Grande Audience in the Papal Palace to discover eight wine libraries, each representing the aromatic register of a major Rhône Valley grape variety (e.g. Grenache, Syrah) or of a terroir. These libraries are ideal for improving your knowledge of all the nuances of Côtes du Rhône and Côtes du Rhône Villages wines as well as those of the crus from the north (Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Saint-Joseph, Cornas, Saint-Péray, Crozes-Hermitage, Hermitage) and south (Vacqueyras, Tavel, Lirac). These libraries guide you through some 200 reds, whites and rosés. The full diversity of aromas - from spicy to floral, and simple to complex - is covered, and classified by theme for an easier tasting experience!
- Discovery workshops : who has never dreamed of making their own wine? The art of blending is the essential step to making any Côtes du Rhône wine, and you can taste it in our blending workshop. The importance of glass shape in tasting can be tasted in the glass comparison workshop…
- Wine and food : During the day, a succession of top local chefs will be displaying their talent. Five sessions a day on the matching of food and wine, led by a top chef and a sommelier: classic combinations, original fusions, and the search for harmonies and contrasts. There are abundant possibilities.
