The vineyards of Jura, at the heart of Franche-Comté, are among the oldest in France, covering 2,500 hectares and about 100 km.
The six appellations d'origine contrôlée (wines of guaranteed origin) are: Château-Chalon, source of Vin Jaune or yellow wine; Etoile, white wine only; Arbois, the capital of the Jura vineyards; Côtes du Jura, the generic appellation; Crémant, and Macvin, a liqueur wine produced from the must and the marc of the Jura raisin. |
